The ULTRA NITRO 7 is the technical centerpiece of PUMA’s 2026 Arrival Pack. After spending years building NITRO into a major running technology, PUMA moved the same energy-return concept onto the football pitch and made it the foundation of its newest speed boot.
From the running track to football
PUMA’s NITRO platform was developed around nitrogen-infused foam designed to compress and rebound quickly. The ULTRA NITRO 7 is the first full-scale use of NITROFOAM ELITE inside the brand’s speed silo, integrated into the sockliner and footbed to add spring and responsive cushioning during repeated accelerations.
The global reveal took place through PUMA’s NITRO Lab in Los Angeles in June 2026, deliberately connecting the technology’s running history with its move into football ahead of the summer’s biggest tournament.
180 grams without relying on weight alone
At around 180g, the Ultimate FG remains firmly in lightweight territory, but PUMA’s story is no longer simply “make it lighter.” A re-engineered ULTRAWEAVE upper provides targeted lockdown with minimal bulk, while GripControl Pro and 3D grip zones support ball contact at high speed.
SPEEDSYSTEM 2.0 and FastTrax 2.0
Underfoot, SPEEDSYSTEM 2.0 is designed to make each push-off more responsive. FastTrax 2.0 studs are arranged to support bursts of acceleration and quick cuts, with additional rounded studs helping balance aggressive traction with movement in multiple directions.
The first laceless ULTRA
The Arrival generation also brings the first laceless ULTRA option. That version creates a cleaner upper and gives players another fit choice without moving away from the speed-first concept. It is an important milestone for a silo that has traditionally relied on conventional lacing for lockdown.
Finished in Ultra Red, black and white, the launch colorway makes the technology easy to recognize. But the lasting significance of ULTRA NITRO 7 is underneath the color: it marks the moment PUMA stopped treating NITRO as primarily a running innovation and made it a central part of elite football footwear.
