Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 22 Collection: A Unique Boot Pack
Nike celebrates 22 years of partnership with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Doernbecher Children’s Hospital through the Doernbecher Freestyle 22 Collection. This year’s boot pack features six distinct Nike silhouettes, each designed by courageous patient-designers collaborating with Nike employee volunteers. The collection includes the Nike Air Max 1/97, Nike Structure Plus, Nike Air Force 1 Mid, Nike ACG Rufus, Nike GT Future, and Air Jordan 11 Low IE, all making their debut in the program.
Collection Overview
The Doernbecher Freestyle program empowers young patients by giving them a platform to express their stories and passions through footwear design. Each silhouette in this year's collection reflects the individual interests and experiences of its patient-designer, ranging from basketball and baseball to motocross and art.
Nike Air Max 1/97 by Owen William Flint
Owen’s design reflects his passion for dirt biking, featuring lenticular graphics on the medial side resembling sequential panels in a superhero comic book. The sneaker includes a brass dirt bike charm, accented black and gold laces, a spinning wheel dubrae on the tongue, and a sock liner with a dirt bike diamond plate graphic.
Nike Structure Plus by Aurora Loss
Aurora’s design uses pastel colors and displays cherry blossom flowers on the upper. The shoe features faux fur detailing on the collar, anime eyes on the medial midsole, draped chains on the heel, and unique sock liner graphics including a “cutsie hotel” logo and “Aurora’s Light.”
Nike Air Force 1 Mid by Royce Short
Royce’s Air Force 1 Mid draws inspiration from rodeo activities and Western-style attire. It features braided laces, a lace dubrae, a silver pronged buckle, a croc print Swoosh, a unique stitch pattern on the toe, a BBC custom logo, an outsole printed with the phrase “FISH ON!”, and an obsidian arrowhead graphic on the heel.
Nike ACG Rufus by Charlye Cosgrove
Charlye’s pink camo ACG Rufus includes a black woven tag, a green textured Swoosh, and fuzzy materials, reflecting her personal style and story.
Supporting Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
All profits from the Doernbecher Freestyle 22 Collection benefit the OHSU Foundation and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The funds help support specialized treatments, pioneering research, and care for families in need. The collection was first available at auction in Portland on October 16 and will launch in the U.S. on Nike SNKRS and select retail locations this winter.
