The 2026 Nike Tiempo Ligera heritage edition looks back to one of the periods when Tiempo was at its most expressive. Its beige, navy, red and gold palette is inspired by a Ronaldinho-associated Tiempo design from 2007, reconnecting the modern Ligera with the Brazilian icon’s era of Joga Bonito football.
Ronaldinho and the creative era of Tiempo
In the early 2000s, Tiempo was not simply seen as the safe choice for defenders. Players such as Ronaldinho, Francesco Totti and Andrea Pirlo helped give the silo an artistic identity built around touch, imagination and personality. Ronaldinho in particular became inseparable from Nike Football culture through his skill, signature products and the famous Joga Bonito period.
A 2007-inspired colorway—not a new Ronaldinho signature
The 2026 Ligera uses a dark beige or coffee-toned upper with a navy Swoosh, outlined by subtle red and gold details. A cursive Nike script at the heel strengthens the retro feeling. The important distinction is that this is a Ronaldinho-inspired heritage release rather than a newly endorsed R10 signature boot; the design references that era without using Ronaldinho’s personal logos as an official new signature model.
Why Nike chose the Tiempo Ligera
The choice of the Ligera makes sense. Nike introduced the modern Ligera alongside the more progressive Tiempo Maestro to serve players who still want a traditional feel. It uses TECHLEATHER—Nike Football’s very soft synthetic material—combined with a stitched forefoot, a traditional full-length plate and conical studs. The result is deliberately familiar compared with the more radical Maestro construction.
That also makes the Ligera an ideal canvas for archive-inspired colorways. Nike has already used the model to revisit memorable football-boot moments, including references to the 2010 World Cup Elite Pack. This Ronaldinho-inspired edition follows the same philosophy: modern materials and fit, but a visual story that takes longtime football fans back to an era when Tiempo was worn by some of the game’s great creators.
