Nike and the University of Oregon have introduced the final uniform in their three-year Generation O Series, titled the “Origin of Speed” football jerseys. This new look draws inspiration from Hayward Field, the historic site where Oregon football was first played from 1919 to 1966, and honors the legacy of speed and the athletes who have shaped Oregon’s track and football traditions.
The uniform features a distinctive color palette that fuses Oregon’s iconic green and yellow. The base color is Night Forest, Nike’s darkest green, combined with the debut color Green Strike and Volt for high visibility, accented by reflective silver details. The design incorporates multiple elements rooted in Oregon sports DNA, including a kinetic wing at 26.2 degrees on the helmet and jersey shoulders, symbolizing energy and the marathon distance.
Additional design details include leg side panels with a forward-leaning word mark called the “Oregon Angle of Attack,” inspired by a memorable 2013 Fiesta Bowl touchdown. The jersey numbers are uniquely shaped to mimic a superhero pose and feature waffle print perforation, a pattern associated with Nike running shoes. The jersey’s shoulder displays an Oregon “O” inspired by the architecture of Hayward Field and Autzen Stadium, highlighting the six original Hayward running lanes. Lanes 4 and 5 are specially colored to honor late Ducks football players Spencer Webb and Khyree Jackson.
The creation of the uniform was a collaborative effort involving Nike, Oregon football equipment administrator Kenny Farr, and a board of selected Ducks athletes. Oregon football players will debut the “Origin of Speed” jerseys in their October 10 home game against UCLA at Autzen Stadium.
